breakfast
surfed the net
left home @ 1135am
got on the bus @ 1150am
reached consumer behavior class @ 1210pm
(my exam was @ 12pm)
finished it @ 1235pm

yes, i was late
but i wasn't gonna freak out
ah... the magic of ~aloha~
i wouldn't have this luxury
if i was in NUS
that's for sure
日本語を勉強します is my busiest
but i love learnin' it here
couldn't say the same
for bahasa melayu back home

on to my theory that

i know it doesn't matter now
but i'm still baffled
why i chose hawai'i

i didn't even plan to go on SEP
in the first place
but peter & jacky convinced me

& then i changed my mind
from korea to hawai'i
the only reason
i can come up with right now:
school being so freakin' slack here
will give me the mental break i need
to push for honours next sem

was looking forward to go north shore tomorrow

day 54: almost normal

skippin' day 48 first
haven't got hold of all the pics yet
on to today:

intramural soccer
set my alarm @ 7.45am
jolted out of bed @ 8.45am
& rushed out to catch the bus
no breakfast
& still zonked out from yesterday

got to the field
a couple of warm up drills
before kickoff
for "team individuals"
because we signed up erm...
individually?

anyways
we only had 10 peeps
opponents had 11
0-0 after 2 17-minute halves (don't ask me why) later
we lost on penalties
only 1 person scored
i was the goalie for that though haha
maybe i should have tried a kick instead

almost forgot
durin' the game
i revealed my singaporean side
i found it friggin' hilarious
after i did it
i stepped up & played them offside
to me it was freakin' obvious
@ first,
the linesman (or assistant ref, whatever) didn't call it
i shouted "WAH LAU!" freakin' loud
for a moment, i wasn't even thinkin' about the offside
& just laughin' @ myself inside
singaporean to the max! haha
but she called it offside after
i'm sure no one had any idea what i was sayin'

pretty bummed
because we had better chances
& the other team wasn't that good
the 2 girls (chelsea & kiara) on our team
were better than
most of the 11 lads they had
next game is on the 14th

but it was fun
a different experience from back home
although i always lose with my sunday team haha
that's what i love about footy:
when you're on the field, you're on the field
my mind is nowhere else
not singapore, not hawai'i

now that the whistle is blown

& all alone, across more than a time zone

did a lil' shoppin' yesterday
bought a pair of quiksilver
slippers & board shorts
the slippers were aight @ $12
but there's a whole new short story
with the board shorts
went into the shop
"SALE $29.99"

so i must have tried on like
5-6 pairs
all from sizes 29-32
before findin' one i liked

in between
i asked 2 salespeople
about the price because
the tags on all the shorts there were $34.99
but they told me it was $29.99
when i went to pay
i tried to put my point across
but the cashier insisted it was $34.99
so i paid up

when across the street
to return a modem
(after the free 30 day trial)
felt uneased bout what i paid for the shorts
& returned to the shop
asked a senior-lookin' staff
who told me it was $29.99
they promptly refunded me
"sorry about that" the cashier said

i have been avoidin' the fact:
i am in a long distance relationship

why?
i'd argue the fact
that i'd been back in under 5 months
but today
had a lil' spat with sands
but nothin' we couldn't deal with
but i realised
i couldn't give & get
a hug that was needed

i admit
this long distance thing
is a pain
but like i believe:
everything, happens for a reason

day 42: how i met your mother

despite wakin' @ 1130am
still managed to get a decent amount
of what needed to be done, done
typed up my COM201 thought paper on culture
cycled to the post office to send a postcard ;)

that's pretty much it haha
oh
had some dessert wine on my own
didn't need any eggin' on
shockin' i know
but i just felt i needed a sip

was supposed to sort out
all my photos
(i did the easy part of consolidating 'em on my HD)
& read up a lil' of my COM201 text
but that can wait
my test is only on thursday
i'd rather much be watchin'
"how i met your mother"

but of cos
skypin' tomorrow
would be my highlight

day 41: surf's up

woke up to a hearty breakfast
2 sausages
2 scrambled eggs
& 3 pieces of mmm mmm bacon

skyped with sands
til' 4 last night
so was still feelin' a lil' woozy
while waitin' @ the busstop
was headed to school
for my bodysurfin' lesson

quite a drive from school
but got to see sandy beach
(wicked waves man)
& other hot spots

reached waimanalo beach park
a brief lesson in the water
on avoidin' waves
(dive as close to the ground when you see 'em comin')
back to shore
wet & freezin'
(no thanks to the winds)
some bodysurfin' tips
& went to hit it

the waves were big
but still shallow enough
to keep my feet on the ground
struggled to find some sync @ first
but then managed to hit 1 great wave
all the way to shore
surf's up dudes!
hit some 1/2 waves
but pretty much spent most of the time
waitin' for a good wave
& drinkin' a lifetime's worth of saltwater

ended up with a
pretty bruised abdomen area
but i'd definitely be bodysurfin' again
(smeevan & nut so will ya folks)

gonna study tomorrow
for jap quiz on monday:

attended
50 mins of school today

i am on SEP after all

got home
went to "asian grocery"
& times supermart
to get food for the steamboat

we were havin' @ my crib
tonight

spotted a lift
from joanne to wal-mart
& got a refund for my airbed
which had a hole
& got a new one
(i love the refunds & exchanges here)

my tom yum soup base

was a decent 1st attempt
everyone liked it
at least that's what they said
with a straight face
& similar praise
for my debut sambal 臭豆


i stayed home
girls' night out they had

i needed some "me time"
to keep my balls in check

beautiful beaches plentiful

the cheapo lozenges
failed to work
so much for my theory that
the sooner you see the doc
the less chance of it
gettin' full blown
but i felt the full force
when i woke up this mornin'
my throat was like on fire
maybe the exception
is when the doc sucks

i've been tryin'
a host of other stuff
to ease the pain
7-11 cough mixture
throat spray
honey water

feels a lil' better now
but i'd probably
feel like shit again
tomorrow mornin'
& i don't trust
seein' the doc again
unless i can get reimbursed for it

watched 2 movies today
with a subway meal
"sandwiched" in between

& a sunset watch by the side

to be funny
the best part
of the movie for me
